Larry
Windes, president of the firm, is a native of Arizona and
has a Bachelor of Architecture Degree from Arizona State
University (1968). He studied landscape architecture under
the tutelage of the Hon. Rene Perchere – 1965.
(Landscape architect to the Crown of Belgium).
Mr. Windes is the author of the book “High-Rise
Cluster Matrix Housing”. |

Early
in his career he pioneered The Mixed-use Urban Village
concept as a solution to Sub-urban sprawl, (Hayden
Neighborhood, Tempe, Arizona, 1974), and was an early
creator of the Festival Market concept for urban shopping
malls, (Bridgemarket, Manhattan, New York, 1973).
In 1986 he moved to Saudi Arabia for two years
where he was project manager with the eminent firm of
Zuhair Fayez in Jeddah.
Next he remained 6 years in Cairo, Egypt where he
established the Egyptian Branch of Larry Windes and
Associates and executed the original residential master
plan of Dr. Ahmed Bahgat’s “Dreamland” – 1994. His
most significant work in Egypt was the children’s
Television Amphitheater for the Ministry of
Communications. |

Recent
projects include the Salado Grand Condominium, a three
story, 18 unit building enclosing an interior courtyard
with private motor court and basement parking garage,
(1999, Tempe, Arizona).
Tuscan Springs a 29-unit enclave of single family
residences surrounding a central common garden with
fountain and pools, (2005, Chandler, Arizona).
Eloy City is a 10,000 acre master planned city of
35,000 ultimate population located between Phoenix and
Tucson, Arizona. The
firm created the concept master plan for Eloy City in
2001. |
